Firefighters put out a fire that damaged a community behind Wat Molilokayaram in Bangkok Yai district on Thursday. Chuea Ram-urai, 87, told Bangkok Yai police that Phra Natthachai Waranchayo and monk novice Theepakorn Yanonjai rushed through the flames engulfing her house and carried her to safety, Daily News online reported. Mrs Chuea lived next to the house where the fire started in the community close to the temple in Bangkok Yai district. Bangkok Yai police chief Pol Col Jaruphat Thongkomol said police would give the monk and novice a certificate for their courage to save the life of a woman although they were not allowed to touch females. Monks are forbidden to touch women and their monkhood ends if they defy the code.
